Garbo Jr: Reduce Street Crimes in Metro Manila

“Give emphasis on street crimes. Reduce street crimes by at least 50%,” the National Capital Region Police Office Regional Director, PCSUPT Mareclo Poyaoan Garbo Jr ordered all district directors to put emphasis and focus on street crimes especially to the five (5) crime prone areas in Metro Manila during the conference yesterday afternoon at Southern Police District, Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The five (5) street crime prone areas are due to heavy foot traffic and busy thorough fares like Monumento, Caloocan; Baclaran, Pasay; University Belt Area of Convergence (U-BAC); Kalentong, Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City; and EDSA corner E. RodriguezAve., Aurora Blvd., Cubao, Quezon City.

Garbo Jr instructed PSSupt Marcelo Morales, Chief, Regional Operations Division to detail additional for police forces to the identified hot spot area This is to intensify police presence, anti-criminality operation in the area, to provide quick response and improve crime prevention and solution.

Garbo Jr also required all commanders to account all crimes and be accurate on reporting of crime statistics, crime trend analysis for effective utilization in crime fighting.

Meanwhile, the handy collapsible police outpost will be established in the areas detected as crime prone. This to provide police presence even during rainy days as it serves as shades for the policemen so that they will not leave their post. Hence, Garbo Jr is strict with attendance and performance of duties as he is particular with proper police decorum and “Tamang Bihis”.

Garbo Jr also solicits public participation and cooperation in busting street crimes. He advised the public to be always alert and be cautious with their valuable belongings when mingling with crowded areas. He also encourage the public to report immediately any security concern and information to the police for immediate crime solution and crime prevention.
